Reduce Liner Damage From Sharp Objects, Cleaning Equipment, and Pets
You can help prevent holes and tears in your vinyl pool liner by checking what touches it during swimming and routine cleaning.
Keep Sharp Objects Out of the Pool
Keep rocks, glass bottles, chairs, and anything with sharp or rough edges out of the pool. Before putting toys or other objects in the water, check that they cannot cut or scrape the liner.
Inspect Your Pool Cleaning Equipment
Check brushes, nets, and pool poles for rough edges, broken parts, or exposed metal before cleaning. Set damaged equipment aside rather than letting it contact the liner. Keep a brush or net attached to the pole so its bare end cannot scrape the vinyl. Avoid pushing the brush into the sidewall while cleaning the floor.
Be Careful With Pets
A dog that becomes tired or cannot find the exit may scratch the liner while trying to climb out. Keeping pets out of the pool avoids this source of damage. If your dog swims, make sure it knows how to use the steps or ladder.
