How Do I Install an Above Ground Pool Cover?
Your cover should hug the sidewall and rest on the water, not stretch across it. Leave about an inch of water on top to hold it down.
Most of getting an above ground cover right happens before and after the cover goes on. The installation itself is one step.
Getting the fit right
- Buy the right size cover for your pool. Do not stretch a cover across the pool to make it fit.
- Your cover should hug the sidewall and lay on top of the water. A stretched cover will be damaged.
- Royal Swimming Pools above ground covers allow for a maximum water drop below the deck of about 12 inches. If you normally drop your water further than that, order a larger size.
Installing the cover
Thread the cable through the cover loops, then tighten it with the ratchet.
In high wind areas, we recommend cover clips, wall bags, or both.
Water on the cover is meant to be there
- Our above ground covers are made for rainwater to collect on top of them. That water will not damage the cover.
- You can pump off the excess periodically, but leave roughly an inch of water in place. It holds the cover down and protects it from wind damage.
- Do not rest the cover pump on a seam while it is draining. If you do, it will pull water out of your pool rather than off the cover.
